FLORIMARK TRACECERT CERTIFICATION

In 2012, Kalamazoo Flower Group became the first organization in North America to earn the Florimark TraceCert Certificate.

"Florimark TraceCert is a scheme that guarantees the traceability of floriculture products of traders. The certificate comprises basic requirements in the fields of freshness, initial checks, storage, stock management, distribution and traceability of purchased flowers and plants in the trading channel." Our sustainable business strives to maximize effectiveness through sustainable business practices, focusing on environmental preservation and building social equality, while securing long term profitability.

Our Sustainable Floriculture practices involve using less inputs and becoming energy and resource efficient in growing greenhouse products (Dennis, 2011)

Further, our Sustainable Floriculture production also aims to reduce environmental degradation, maintain productivity, promote economic viability, conserve resources and energy, and maintain stable communities and quality of life. (UNH, 2011)

GREEN-CYCLE PARTNERSHIP

This is a recycling program at Kalamazoo Flower Group that allows our retailers to return plastics to us for recycling. We encourage our retailers to stack garden plastic on returning carts and we will collect it for recycling at our supplier. 

This is a program that retailers can market to consumers as a way of being environmentally conscience as part of their own sustainability efforts.
